Over the last 10 years alone, the OCRF has been able to commit more than $16 million to ovarian cancer medical research projects across early detection, treatment, recurrence and prevention, thanks to the White Shirt Campaign.

But there is still work to be done. The statistics remain stark:

The average survival rate of ovarian cancer is still just 49%, highlighting the importance of accelerating medical research.

The OCRF invests in medical research projects that seek to develop accessible, non-invasive early detection methods, better treatment options, preventative measures and reduce recurrence for women, girls, patients and their families, everywhere. The only way to improve survival rates of ovarian cancer is to continue to significantly boost dedicated research funding and raise widespread awareness.

Leane Flynn

7 December 1967 - 5 September 2023

We pay tribute to the late Leane Flynn.

A wife, mother, dedicated White Shirt Campaign ambassador and ovarian cancer patient. She leaves an inimitable legacy of unwavering dedication to raising awareness of ovarian cancer and vital research. Her story represents the many brave women and girls who have faced, or are facing an ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Grace Scoleri

Mother of two, Grace was diagnosed in 2020 at just 58 years old with Stage 3A High Grade Serous ovarian cancer. Her diagnosis came by complete chance after experiencing unusual bloating and pain shortly after a massage. In the last six months Grace has had a recurrence and has been receiving treatment.

Emily Jol

Emily was diagnosed with Stage 1A ovarian cancer in 2019, two weeks after her 22nd birthday. Emily’s doctor misdiagnosed her with polycystic ovary syndrome, prescribed her the contraceptive pill and told her ‘to get on with things’. Since undergoing necessary surgery, Emily is now in remission.

Professor Stacey Edwards

Professor Edwards is Head of the Functional Cancer Genomics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer, QLD. She was one of two OCRF National Research Grant Scheme recipients in 2021. Her current work explores how certain ovarian cancer subtypes develop drug resistance and to develop new, more effective treatment options.

Amelia, Laura & Anabel Flynn

Daughters of the revered White Shirt Campaign ambassador and ovarian cancer advocate Leane Flynn, who sadly passed away in September 2023. Amelia, Laura and Anabel Flynn wish to continue Leane's notable legacy in raising awareness and vital funds for ovarian cancer research.
